A boar collection dummy (sow mannequin) is specialized equipment used for collecting semen from breeding boars on pig farms. METALOROB LLC, based in Vasylkiv, Kyiv Oblast, manufactures these dummies for use on pig farms, at breeding facilities, and in artificial insemination centers.
The sow mannequin is used during the semen collection process, allowing the collected material to be evaluated, processed, and subsequently used for herd reproduction. This equipment facilitates the collection of biological material within a specially designated area.
The collection dummy mimics the shape of a sow’s back, providing support for the boar during mounting. It is an essential component in the artificial insemination workflow, where regular semen collection from breeding boars is required.
The product image from METALOROB LLC shows a design featuring a curved body, a supporting metal frame, and side elements. The base includes protrusions with mounting holes for secure attachment. This design allows for the equipment to be installed permanently in the facility where breeding boars are handled.
When selecting a collection dummy, it is important to consider factors such as the size of the animals, the stability of the structure, the characteristics of the support surface, ease of access for staff, and the ease of cleaning the equipment after use.
Sow Dummy for Pig Farms and Breeding Facilities
A dummy (phantom) for boar semen collection is used on farms that practice the artificial insemination of sows. It serves as a component of the equipment for a semen collection center, a breeding facility, or a specialized pig farm complex.
This equipment is designed to facilitate a controlled process for collecting semen from boars. A well-designed unit must correspond to the animals' dimensions, the specific operating conditions, and the safety requirements for personnel.
Setting up a semen collection center also requires appropriate flooring, a designated installation area for the dummy, hygiene supplies, and veterinary equipment.
